About Me

Hi, I’m Carey Caulfield, an acrylic and mixed media painter living and creating in beautiful Santa Barbara. My art is deeply inspired by the vibrant landscapes, iconic landmarks, and rich coastal culture that make this place so special. From the blooming flower fields to the historic buildings, I bring the beauty of Santa Barbara to life on canvas.

I’ve always been creative but I started taking drawing and pastel painting classes at night as a way to relax after work at my tech job in Silicon Valley in my 20s. My journey into acrylic pointing continued as a personal escape during the pandemic, and what began as a creative outlet in a sliver of my garage has turned into a passionate side hustle. Today, I focus on capturing the essence of Santa Barbara —its warmth, charm, and natural beauty. My work features bold, whimsical interpretations of Santa Barbara’s most beloved scenes, from the stunning Mission to the lively waterfront. I frequently paint outside with my easel at some of the most beautiful places on California's American Riviera, as Santa Barbara is sometimes called. The light and landscape here is like no where else. 

Before dedicating myself to painting full-time, I spent over 20 years in product management, working with startups as well as major tech companies like Oracle, Citrix and LogMeIn. While I thrived in the fast-paced world of tech, I've found my flow and passion in painting and making—using my background in startups, marketing and innovation to fuel my creativity.

Now, through my art, I hope to share the spirit of Santa Barbara with you. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, I believe there’s something magical about this city that everyone can connect with, and I aim to capture that magic in every piece I create.
